Even though a weatherman can miss on my blocks weather, he can tell me how to measure and predict my own very local weather, and with great accuracy. The forecast may be wrong for the large view he takes, but I am able to acquire a forecaster skill quickly (hours of effort) and with little equipment. Then, bingo — I’m my own forecaster. I’m even able to share the weather report with my immediates.

It’s good that economists didn’t go into meteorology.
