Demographics happens. My grandson will outlive me by more than my lifetime. What a fluke. But I don’t envy him. Wife number one calls him awesome. I think of him as memorable. He may not be recapitulating, but he is re-learning what I don’t know how to learn. Watching a child gain the balances of life. Gain the meanings among and between the things around him, I can almost remember walking although I walk everyday. Have walked more than 20 mile stretches. I’ve talked and written words for others to say. But hearing the patterns refreshed can’t be packaged but is refreshing. I wish I could remember more of my own first worlds. No one can. Those days are always far away, even in this age of short lives and shorter days.
