Wrong Number, Long Message

Tuesday was election day so the automated dialers were busy. So my message machine filled quickly.

A message from a nurse about a procedure on thursday. Too bad it wasn’t for me. I hope that whoever you are actually got to Sutter Health for your procedure. I hope that you arrived by 6:30 AM for your 10 AM procedure.
I hope that you brought the forms you were sent.
I hope they were filled out completely
I hope your insurance card was current
I hope that you brought someone with you
I hope that that someone was competent to make judgements on your behalf
I hope that your procedure went well.
I hope it went better, was done by someone more caring and careful than the group that called you and left a message on my machine. I hope all this, but I doubt it. I bet I care more about you than they did, or do. And I don’t even know who you are.

This is the base of the american health care system. And it can’t be fixed. It is at its base uncaring and unfixable. The tower has toppled.

Too bad I didn’t get to this till today. So many politicians telling me why they were better for america because they were better than the other guy who said he was better for america. None of them mentioned how they could help you with your procedure, or your health. Guess they care less than the careless nurses at Sutter Health.

I hope your procedure went well.
