So what does it mean? It came into fashion when FOX needed to mark its territory. Since a talking head reading news isn’t distinctive, at least not when the talking heads are unknown, FOX needed to lay claim to something. They did this by making a claim, but more impressively, by marking everyone else.

It is likely to mean MAIN STREAM MEDIA, as in we are alternative media. Wait, does this link back to those underground FM radio broadcasters of the 60’s? Only in that they are taking a phrase that their viewers wouldn’t know and laying claim to authorship. It certainly could have meant Main Street Media. Staking the claim to the common man, the regular Joes of the audience. That simple cup of coffee from Wal*Mart or McDonald’s along with a morning egg sammy. Nope, that isn’t how they say it, nor how their acolytes use it. The Wall Street crew is definitely not Main Street America. And FOX was,nor is, interested in that GMA crowd, more likely the GMO, GOP followers.

MSM, honestly, doesn’t mean a damn thing, other than all those places, all those media casts that aren’t owned by FOX.
