Suppose Ted Bundy had used your work to keep himself active, encouraged, engaged?
Would it matter, after all Ted did the deed, not you. You just made, and published.
You’re hidden behind the distant wall of commerce. Of the remoteness of action and consequence. It isn’t the butterfly that knocked over the tree.
But what if Mr. B had seen your work, loved it and wanted to be a part of it, so he tracked you down. What is your reaction, response? The same, right. It is still Master Ted’s problem, err, issue. Shouldn’t you be free to….. of course you should; you are.
What if there are a thousand, thousand, thousand “yous,” each floating logs in the pool. Do you think it more, or less, likely that you will bump into one? Blowback happens. Too easily.
But, you didn’t make Ted. I know. If you didn’t, who did?
If pictures satisfied the urge, McDonalds would be bankrupt. So would their ad agency.
