QTR: Undermaintained

I’m looking for a term to describe software that is closed source, open trialware, yet little changed and lacking updates to reflect current code base and functionality. Those are the elements of Quadtone RIP. QTR has an active user group with frequent questioners asking fundamental use questions. Questions that often are answered in the form:

The BLAH_BLAHS variable is not used any more. —Feb 12, 2009

The main disadvantage of QTR is that it cannot grow, so isn’t. Perhaps deadend code is an apt phrase. The source is little maintained, closed and without published current features defined. QTR is cheap, so no one can make a living off it. QTR is closed, so no one can extend it. Even though at least two companies make money as a result of its existence, they aren’t equipped to explain its full use so leave it to a tired group of volunteers. Perhaps tired, or exhausted or stale is more appropriate.
