You cannot say you will consciously do something which is surreal. Surrealism is an heuristic approach to art, and the main guide for me seems to be intuition Not all of my pictures, of course, are surrealistic in the strict sense of the world, but my way of thinking is always surrealistic. you must be born a surrealist, or any other kind of artist. For example, I will never be able to see the National Parks like landscape photographers for one main reason: I have a blind spot for nature. I hat to wake up early in the morning. I prefer the city where I can sit in a restaurant and watch the world around me. I am interested in deja vu. I am interested in recapturing images in the present which have occurred to me in the past, either in dreams or as fragments of waking experience, or a combination of both.
