I/O School — Apple

Before you begin developing an add-on or peripheral device, you might want to familiarize yourself with the Apple hardware product lines and the I/O technologies they support.

Words from Luminous indicate a mixup ( in the posters too) between revisions amongst Apple (OS and Driver API), Adobe (PS4) and Canon (delivered printer drivers). This came up do to failures of color management. It seems to me that someone needs to invest in two things: A USB “scope” and someone prepared to learn and use it.

It escapes me now, but either last summer or the summer before, I read a post/response by a programmer saying he had been brought in to clean up code. He began by removing support for problems with OS API… or such. Then claimed that this made the problem area clearer to anyone coming across a mistake. In other words, as we used to say: “the troubles leaving here fine” then hang up.

We find ourselves in a golden age of service and customer relationship management. An age in which we make certain that we can proclaim that the problem isn’t solved, but at least our ass has been covered. The problem isn’t yours, its your customers.
