Two Things. Hit

Two books come together on my desk. For no particular reason, but they are new. They aren’t related any other way….
One on painting; in it a painting by Matisse that is unlike anything I ever thought was Matisse. The other by Emmet Gowin. Just by glancing through them, I’m struck by how good their work, and their world was.

Of course, Matisse is the famous one. The ground breaker. The genius. But, when you see work done by someone who works fully, and honestly, it too brings that feeling; that feeling to work. Make something of character, and substance.

You never know the whole thing. Everyone’s work is bigger than you’ve been told.

The internet can’t hold the past.
