For The Darkroom: One Word

In the darkroom Dexter rules apply.

whatever you first think of doing, don’t. do the opposite.

Use sheets of black plastic to line the walls. the stuff used in gardens to cover the ground is best. just tape or staple it loosely to the walls around the enlarger. this will snag the dust, while eliminating direct reflections of the light from the enlarger. it also is easy to clean or replace. Dexter’s place as a possible place for your darkest work…. heh, heh, heh….

Hot & Cold Paper

Printmaking paper is termed Hot or Cold press to distinguish the finish. Hot means smooth, while Cold means more tooth or texture. This press finish is like the difference in your skin between being hot or cold. Cold means bumps, hot means smooth.
