The Hippy Path

My path to perfection moves onward. Adding more feature to my command set, I discovered that an API for scanners exists. This may help close the loop back into the analysis and management tools for my new print monster. If you are following along, these breadcrumbs are essential. If you don’t know what the hell I am doing, then consider this techno trash.

From this site, this snippet:

SANE stands for “Scanner Access Now Easy” and is an application programming interface (API) that provides standardized access to any raster image scanner hardware (flatbed scanner, hand-held scanner, video- and still-cameras, frame-grabbers, etc.). The SANE API is public domain and its discussion and development is open to everybody.

Outline of steps for Mac (user view)

  1. Install libusb from here
  2. Install the SANE Backend from here
  3. Install the SANE interface from here
  4. Open ImageCapture (it works in Photoshop too)
  5. Click Devices =>; Browse Devices
  6. Click SANE =>; Use TWAIN UI

Found OpenMoco

While searching for controller code samples came across this very kewl site. From its intro:

The OpenMoco system is an open-source software and hardware motion control system for time-lapse photographers and videographers. We also strive to provide an open environment for the photographic community to discuss all types of motion control and contribute free and open software and hardware designs for all types of photography.
