Nird is at the mod shop having his guts altered. We bought a camera just for infrared, only because -C- saw prints on line, saying “wow, those are so crisp. how does he do that?”
I wanted it to be a new printer, or hopefully a blad or leica. Nope, they weren’t. I printed a jpeg on pixie and she looked great. Of course, during the study of those prints I realized that they were shot in late light and looked a lot like infrared film. Perhaps that was the secret sauce. Film->scan->wowy new printer… Oh heaven. this might mean NEW camera + NEW scanner + NEW printer. The ultimate frequeout.
Nope. I searched the net for his name and found him in a BBS asking people about digital infrared conversion. Yep, it was infrared, but not film. Instead it was digital. Meaning we could convert one of our beloved, or we could adopt some other for the greater good. We chose the second path. We bought a camera, tested him a couple of days, then shipped him to the mod shop. That was last monday. He arrived on tuesday. I hope to have him back this coming tuesday. Then off to the North for clouds, clouds, trees, yep.
If all goes well, we will tell you about the pictures and stuff. If it all craps out, we will tell you who screwed up. Better to at least let you know which company not to trust. Later. But I hope not much later.
