god confessed his sins, when will he atone for them?

I became an atheist. It was during the invasion of Vietnam. Team Igloo captured Him and took him to the mountain peaks so all could hear. So some could see. So none could forget.

We found him in a hole, eating rice and scratching on tablets. They were maps, routes through the tunnels to war and to peace. So we caught him. No doubt it was Him. He told us right away. Some of the guys, one from Georgia, recognized him straight off. And he cracked. We barely had to stick Him in the pond of water.

So in less than a week God confessed that he was a fake. That is why I am an atheist. War made me give up my Zen Methodist Faith. Some guys cried, particularly that idiot grapefruit farmer from Texas. He howled that God couldn’t be made to confess, yet our technique was grand and He fell.

There are times I worry about what we did. Did we let up too quickly, should we have made him sign something. Then I think, naw, just let him sit there on the hill crying and rotting. Someday we will all go back. Just not now. I’m still waiting for his apology. Waiting for Him to atone for all those sins.
