Woodburytype: notes

[detours …can be skipped]

My examination of woodburytype uncovered a Photrio thread in which Wiley made a usual claim of danger, OSHA, not-possible, failure … and his advising on a Chuck Close project ( presumably for Magnolia, through D. Wiley’s employment was at Truitt and White lumber yards).

My recurring advisory: avoid staying on single site. don’t trust those who are selling you their reality, since they only got to a hosted bulletin board.( Large Format / Photrio. )Their errors will detour you. if they can’t be precise enough, consider it a sales pitch. they don’t know the absentee names they’re dropping. In this instance it was Magnolia who knows nothing about Drew Wiley as a consultant for their projects.

This began a photrio post :>> APIS 2013 talks in October 2013, Barret Oliver talk about his collaboration in creating Woodburytypes with Chuck Close. (by Peter McCallion in Mar. 2014)

the (selected) exchange.

The objector failed to understand the process, yet he said he was consulting on the effort made by [Magnolia] a Chuck Close laser etching including granite slabs.

Of course, salesman aren’t expected to be close readers. Neither are they dinged for inflating their role and job title.

In this case, the original questioner knew more than those on photrio responding to the question. They left, unfortunately, the erroneous responses remain and are more often found by google than are the correct answers.
