finding lavender advice

AeIoU.. continuing the walk into growing the lavender patch…

Coaxing the answer out of the machine has become more difficult now that the machine seems to think in found words. Rather than providing links, it summarizes and provides an outline.. The answers that it provides assume that you are trying to buy something, or that you have bought something — that’s been the problem Google has had ever since “adult leadership” took over making it a sales rep at an ad agency. The corner news stand. Glossy on top.

Equally revealing is the absence of government or state agriculture sites, or growing association references in the results. Instead, what is present or links to sales sites. Places with prices.

Off to an ag-center in France…

I wasn’t looking for a growing plant, nor was I looking to buy seeds. I was trying to find out the stages of the seed …growth of the plant for transplanting at stages. Dirt, and care needed at each stage, by size of plant.. not found in open ended searches. Not even after several phrasings…

what goog knows but doesn’t understand.

onto my current process of growing lavender from seed:

  • set seeds into damp paper towel lining a sandwich container. this is placed in refrigerator for 5 weeks. keep moist.
  • when the seeds sprout, they can be put into growing pots. I use palette knife. the soil is a 50-50 mix of cactus soil and seed starter soil
  • can put into well drained ground when plant as small as 3-4 inches.
  • should have 12inch deep prepare soil…mix sand into loamy ground
  • light sand-gravel as ‘compost’ to reflect into plant
