Barry Goldwater was the GOP candidate for President in 1964, even though he was not born in America. At the time there was no Birther movement (aka BM) so there was little opposition for his candidacy. Unfortunately for his Birch Society(aka BS) supporters, there was even less support for his presidential campaign.
