The govment as a competitor. Providing service in a cashless society … overnight success of FedEx.. Friday to get there by monday. FedEx cash machine was “down” so come back tomorrow, maybe it will be up. Use the Post Office on Saturday for Monday delivery. They take cash. They take back what they printed. What if FedEx printed their money (they do as an account). Money is anonymous, comes without instructions, has no manners nor morals.

This is the back of an Army Pay Stub… Nice that it showed who made what … maybe we still tell the troops the cost of their stripes and bars. When I see this I realize again how foolish the Friedman-esque statement about “Mercenaries” was. Remember, most of the soldiers in Vietnam when this Pay Stub was issued signed up. They were “RA”, not “US.”
I was one of the very few draftees in that first build up. I knew no other “US” in my MOS in my unit.
