The command line version of a QTR replacement is running. I am able to generate a nozzle test of any nozzle on Elvis. This version also includes a “step wedge” generator. This feature means that I can test ink+paper combinations without resorting to an application and associated datafile.
This will be useful when things such as what is happening in the Mac PS4 finger pointing debates currently running occur. It also means I don’t have to have an application open in order to test ink and paper! It will also be critical for developing some of the plans I have for printer modification make headway.
With this layer ready, I am moving on to the profiling layer. With luck I will have built a “model” this week. It seems that the open source community has been very busy in building cross platform GUI toolsets. I may make a detour into that so that I could make this suite Xplatform… but then again maybe not. I left wintel about nine years ago so I have little personal motivation for the added effort.
