I don’t think of myself as a photographer. I’ve engaged questions regarding photography’s role in culture. . .but it is an engagement with a problem rather than a medium. The creative part of the work is just as much like painting or design as it is like photography. I’m not using a camera and it’s not based on recording a given world but on creating or structuring a given world.‘-1990, Charlesworth

art, imaging, the visual mind is being moved far beyond what photography does, or ever has done. So far, that art has passed photography — now bypassing any need for photographers. This means that photographers will be left behind, holding on to their past, and never knowing.
