LW AIR: Chemicals

More old work:

I frequented Community Darkroom during the 70s into the mid 80s. During those days I collected chemistry from the visiting artist darkroom. Among those whose developer I collected:

— Karl Baden (85)
— Gary Metz (85)
— Dennis Hearne (82)
— Cindy Sherman (81)
— Kenda North (79)
— Michael Martone (78)
— Joseph Jachna (75)
— CJ Laughln (75)

[I’ve long since flushed the remains, although I kept some of the bottles (sample test tubes from the material sciences lab at Syracuse University.)

30 Years Later

several decades ago I introduced a simple stage model — a presentation in Silicon Valley — the sequence that occured, and must occur for a successful company —

  1. people
  2. product
  3. process

the failure of the venture was because of item number 1 — the key is people. They make everything else. They fix everything else. They break everything else. Item 3, process, can cause trouble, but not failure. 1 is the first need for all phases. Get the people right, and your risk approaches zero; wrong, and it approaches certainty.
