Danziger Gallery :Two tales

the art is the prompt — it isn’t the print, it is the point. a test of our time..

it ain’t what you do it’s the way that you do it …

One pill makes you popular … The other makes you crawl..

The vertigo project is about dye transfer and motion picture some thing a few of the weekend photographers pay heed to and certainly not those under the age of 40. The movie is from grandpa’s time..

The other project, the other pill ,the one that’s tough to swallow is based on an AI of an icon , and an iconic image. also from grandpa’s time ,but it has stronger weekend following … a following that drinks Starbucks not hills brothers coffee.. that Coffee can of Ansel’s

Lesson: if you’re going to appropriate , or extend, do it using ancient revered tools ; maybe hand coated emulsions– some toning, but hard to notice — be careful in appropriation… being right is often wrong .

I wager that if you had done a hand colorized dye transfer it would’ve gone unnoticed ..or, included the Ansel Adams gift shop brigade a cut.

and whatever you do never make a Stained glass Version and treat it as though it were a church window; The altar burning coffee wicks..

it goes to show , you never can tell

The past you choose, the past you follow determines your  followers , your future.

by the way-- i think AI did a better job than AA.

and ‘ Lo Schiavo tells The Art Newspaper. “More generally, I find AI-generated photography of little interest, and I rarely find it artistically rewarding. On another note, I think the amount of hate these topics generate is a bit scary, but also a sign of the uncertainty AI is creating for creators and artists.” — https://www.theartnewspaper.com/2026/05/27/ansel-adams-photograph-ai-colourised-danziger-aipad-controversy

Be aware: The people who couldn’t open the door in their time are not showing you the way to open the door in your time. they couldn’t make it when the field was growing how do you expect them to guide you in this dying field. they couldn’t plant they couldn’t harvest they sat on the sidelines until in this present age they’re able to sell you their experience at a discount of free.

what photo-enthusiast forums teach:

MFA QUESTION– i’ve seen a variation on this at least three times in the past decade. twice on Forum A  and once on Forum B: ‘i’m considering getting an MFA in photography. I would like to hear from those of you who have your MFA. Was it  worth it?

The poster wants targeted advice from those experienced in the past they are considering taking . They want to speak to people who have an MFA about that experience; as well, whether it’s satisfied their goals. In short, whether it’s been useful to them.

at forum A The two people who asked no longer participate. they were told that it wasn’t worth it academia is a scam.  all you learn is that Art speak. how to fake it. Of those two, one got their MFA and came back to brag about how much money they’re making teaching at a private boys school. The other person continued in their career as a filmmaker..

Recently at forum B The same question appeared. With that appearance as a trigger , I have written a series of posts about the MFA ,my experience and  The general occasion of asking for advice from people who don’t heed your request, yet feel compelled to express their ardent opinion that their life ,and likely yours ,would be better off not being around MFA people; those ‘artistes’ …
