2001: Dye Transfer has become a lost process. Something talked about, mostly by those who never made one.

[2023] From the large membership group, some collected remarks concerning volume of work, as well as film+developers in use for mask & separations.

Meanwhile, back in the fifties: ads for labs, and a new film, a new style of emulsion. All these are gone; Kodak won, for awhile. And along came Fuji, who seemed, for awhile, to be the winner. An along came the worldwide HealtQuake. Fuji has moved to that great big ocean. Kodak coats 35mm for the masses, returning to their origin story. We push film; you push buttons.

A group can’t live if it can’t get passed its origins. That is why OIC began. They are the largest group engaged in making DT/IP prints.

\\ updated post on dye transfer paper[apr 2024] summary: don’t buy paper unless you have all other items, even chems. If you must make conditioner, why not also make mordant, which means you can use fixed out BW paper from Foma, Ilford, or … old eBay.

those well known. those somewhat, somewhere known.

Neither are they the authors. They didn’t originate the sound, the system, nor the platforms of engagement. They each share the same virtual space.

I know little of either of these two. The one, Miley Cyrus, I have heard of without ever hearing. A Youtube search for the song brought both these videos. After listening to several versions, the Miley Cyrus is a return listen. She remains on my Yawn list, but this video tempted me enough to seek other versions of her. So much for success. So much for my ability to pick a path to the top.

The cover singers are competent; even providing a believable reason for making the music. The difference is that difference raised often between those with ability, access, and ‘other.’

Covid lockdowns lowered the bar, increased access to music. Musicians played over the same channels; apparently, for the same rewards. Getting to play music for others. Most of the well known met my criteria for acceptance of their success.

The stage is only so big. Only some will ever stand in a stadium and fill it. I wish when they did, they did it with their music rather than their costume.
